Telangana Rain Update as Heavy Showers Bring Cooler Weather and IMD Issues Fresh Rainfall Warning
Hyderabad and several districts were lashed with moderate to heavy rainfall, giving a welcome break to Telangana from sultry conditions. The recent stretch knocked down daytime temperatures and brought the monsoon back into focus. But the rain also raised the likelihood of waterlogging, slick roads and slower traffic in metropolitan areas, making regular weather checks crucial for residents and commuters.
Telangana Rain Update: New IMD Alert
The Telangana Rain Update still holds good as India Meteorological Department has expected mild to moderate rain or thundershowers at isolated places in the state in the next few days. The latest alert also warned of strong surface winds of 30-40 kmph in isolated pockets in all regions. The IMD forecast for a larger area said thunderstorms with lightning and gusty gusts over Telangana, indicating that even in areas where the day begins with cloud cover or light drizzle, short intense spells may emerge.
Moderate to heavy rains batter Telangana
The most recent period saw rainfall that was locally heavy yet inconsistent. In Sangareddy town, it recorded 71.8 mm and 70.8 mm in Shankarpally of Rangareddy district. Metpalle in Jagtial district recorded 77.8 mm. Mominpet in Vikarabad and Papanpet in Medak also had good rains. These figures show how one area can get a heavy downpour while neighbouring areas might only get moderate showers.
Kistareddypet in Ameenpur, Greater Hyderabad, recorded 45.3 mm. Ramachandrapuram and BHEL region recorded 44.8 mm and Hayathnagar recorded 38 mm. Such localised variability can swiftly impact transportation, with low-lying roadways and underpasses becoming flooded even if the rainfall is less strong elsewhere in the city.
Temperature drops sharply in Hyderabad
The rain and the cloudy weather continued and the afternoon temperature dropped a lot. Hyderabad has seen a maximum temperature of 33°C lately although the IMD’s observed value in a recent city bulletin was 30.8°C. The colder weather has been a godsend for outdoor workers, students, senior folks and those travelling during the day.
The relief from the temperature may not feel the same in different neighbourhoods as humidity can stay high after rain. Expect cloudy skies with a little drizzle and scattered showers throughout the day, not steady rain. The city forecast calls for light rain or drizzle, maximum and minimum temperatures should stay near 32°C and 24°C.
Expect frequent showers all week
Isolated mild to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely to continue throughout early August, said the IMD’s Hyderabad centre. Strong winds likely over Telangana for much of the forecast period. Local estimates indicate that there could be more organised rainfall in northern and eastern districts such as Adilabad, Nirmal, Mancherial, Jagtial, Mulugu and Khammam and numerous central and western districts could experience mild spells.
While the showers may help with surface moisture for farms and gardens, the rainfall pattern remains inconsistent. Farmers and rural communities should follow district specific agricultural advisories instead of a statewide forecast alone.” Heavy spells in one mandal do not mean the same would be received by the surrounding areas.
Sudden disruptions may happen for residents
People should not take refuge from thunderstorms under trees and should not go near fallen electrical wires. Drivers and riders of two-wheelers should drive slowly on wet roads and should avoid entering flooded areas. Families, schools and workplaces should heed official district level alerts, particularly when sending children, older adults or anyone else who might need extra help during severe weather.
