IMD Four Day Weather Warning for Jodhpur
The IMD four day weather warning indicates that Rajasthan may continue to experience active monsoon conditions, although the intensity will vary by district and day. A wider forecast cited the possibility of heavy to very heavy rain across parts of Rajasthan, with extremely heavy rainfall possible around July 26 in sections of the Jodhpur, Udaipur, Ajmer, Jaipur, Kota, Bharatpur and Bikaner divisions. Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds may accompany stronger spells.
For Jodhpur city, the official IMD forecast is more specific. It recorded 18.6 mm of rain during the 24 hours ending at 8:30 a.m. on July 25. Morning humidity stood at 92 per cent, while the minimum temperature was 26.4°C. The city forecast showed thunderstorms with rain and lightning for July 25 and July 26, followed by partly cloudy conditions on July 27 and July 28. The four-day alert should therefore not be read as four continuous days of torrential rain.

The latest rainfall brought relief from heat, but it also caused disruption. Water accumulated on several roads, making movement difficult for pedestrians and drivers. Low-lying neighbourhoods remain vulnerable when intense rain falls in a short period because drains can struggle to clear it. Local reporting also noted that Jodhpur’s seasonal rainfall remained below normal through July 23, despite the recent strong spell.
Drivers should avoid flooded underpasses or roads where the water depth is unclear. Two-wheeler riders face added risk from hidden potholes, open drains and poor visibility. Public transport may also face delays if waterlogging develops during busy hours.
Low-Pressure System Keeps Monsoon Active
The renewed rain is linked to an active monsoon pattern over Rajasthan. IMD’s Jaipur bulletin reported a low-pressure area over southwest Rajasthan and a monsoon trough passing through Jaisalmer. It said parts of the Jodhpur and Udaipur divisions could receive moderate to heavy rain, with isolated very heavy or extremely heavy rainfall during the active phase.
Across Rajasthan, the monsoon had already regained strength earlier in the week, producing heavy rain, overflowing water bodies and traffic disruption in several districts. The broader pattern explains why conditions in Jodhpur may remain unstable even when the sky briefly clears.

People should follow official IMD updates and local administration advisories before travelling. During lightning, it is safer to stay inside a substantial building and avoid open fields, isolated trees, rooftops and metal structures. Families should keep children away from drains, streams and fast-moving roadside water.
