The Honda ZR-V India launch introduces a single, fully equipped variant imported from Japan as a Completely Built Unit. Deliveries began with the price announcement, while the first two batches allocated to India were reportedly already sold out. Its CBU status contributes to the premium pricing, but it also allows Honda to offer the global-spec model. The ZR-V is aimed at customers who value smooth urban driving and lower fuel use more than seven-seat capacity or rugged off-road ability.

Power comes from a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder Atkinson-cycle petrol engine working with two electric motors and an e-CVT. The combined system produces about 184hp and 315Nm, with power sent to the front wheels. Honda claims the SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100kph in 7.9 seconds and return 22.8kmpl. The system automatically moves between electric, hybrid and engine-drive modes according to driving conditions, helping it remain responsive without requiring the driver to manage the hybrid operation.
Crossover Styling Sets It Apart
The ZR-V has a cleaner, more road-focused shape than many upright premium SUVs. It measures 4,567mm long, 1,840mm wide and 1,621mm tall, with a 2,655mm wheelbase. Slim LED headlamps, a vertical-slat grille, sequential turn indicators and 18-inch alloy wheels create a distinctive appearance. At the rear, wraparound LED lamps, a roof spoiler and twin exhaust outlets add a sportier touch. Four exterior colours are available, including Platinum White Pearl and Meteoroid Grey Metallic.
Premium Cabin Focuses on Everyday Comfort
Inside, the ZR-V uses an all-black cabin with soft-touch materials, leather upholstery and physical controls for frequently used functions. Equipment includes a 9-inch touchscreen, a 10.2-inch digital instrument display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, wireless charging and a 12-speaker Bose audio system. The driver receives an eight-way powered seat with memory, while the front passenger gets four-way electric adjustment. A gesture-controlled powered tailgate and ambient lighting add convenience. Boot capacity is 380 litres and expands to 1,313 litres with the rear seats folded.
Honda Sensing Strengthens the Safety Package
The safety list includes eight airbags, a 360-degree camera, parking sensors, tyre-pressure monitoring and ISOFIX child-seat mounts. Honda Sensing adds collision mitigation braking, adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, lane-keeping assistance, road-departure mitigation and automatic high beam. These systems support drivers and families, although they do not replace attentive driving.
A New Alternative in the Premium SUV Market
At Rs 47.99 lakh, the ZR-V is not a value-focused mass-market SUV. Its closest rivals include the Skoda Kodiaq, Volkswagen Tayron, Volkswagen Tiguan and Nissan X-Trail. However, it may also attract buyers considering premium Toyota or Hyundai vehicles who want a refined five-seat crossover with strong-hybrid efficiency. The lack of a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, all-wheel drive and a third row may limit its appeal for some customers. Even so, its efficient powertrain, extensive safety equipment and Honda badge give premium SUV buyers a genuinely different choice.
