The original notification listed 2,050 regular vacancies and 223 backlog vacancies, taking the overall notified total to 2,273 posts. New Officers to Support Customers Nationwide
SBI said the Circle Based Officers will be deployed across its extensive branch network to strengthen customer engagement and improve the quality of banking services. Applicants also needed relevant experience in a scheduled commercial bank or regional rural bank. During screening, SBI examined whether each candidate’s previous duties were comparable with the responsibilities of an SBI Scale-I general officer. This emphasis on practical banking experience distinguishes the CBO position from entry-level officer recruitment.
Pay, Probation and Career Structure
Selected candidates join SBI as Circle Based Officers in Junior Management Grade Scale-I. The official advertisement listed a starting basic pay of ₹48,480, along with two advance increments. Officers are also eligible for benefits such as dearness allowance, housing or lease support, medical facilities, pension contributions and other applicable allowances.
New CBOs remain on probation for six months and undergo continuous assessment before confirmation. They are generally posted within the circle for which they were selected. Under the stated service conditions, inter-circle transfers are restricted until promotion to SMGS-IV or completion of 12 years of service, whichever comes later.
