Kashmir Weather Brings Relief as Moderate Rain – After several days of intense heat, Kashmir Weather has finally brought much needed relief with moderate rainfall sweeping across the Valley. The showers came a day after Srinagar recorded the season’s maximum temperature of 35.9 degrees Celsius, providing some respite to residents battling the unseasonably hot and humid weather conditions.
Relief from record heat with rain
The rainfall brought down temperatures in several districts and made the outdoor conditions more comfortable after a long spell of heat wave. The recent spell of extreme heat has played havoc with normal life in Kashmir and the administration has extended summer holidays for the schools till July 22.
Residents welcomed the rain, though it caused some temporary disruptions. Low-lying areas of Srinagar witnessed waterlogging at a few places. Traffic and daily commute was affected in the city due to waterlogging at some places and overflowing drains.
IMD predicts more rain in Kashmir
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said the present wet spell is likely to continue for the next few days. Light to moderate rain and heavy downpour at isolated places is likely to occur at many places in Jammu and Kashmir.

The changing weather has also impacted travel and pilgrimage activities. The Amarnath Yatra is suspended for a while due to the forecast of heavy rain and chances of landslide on the route. Officials continue to closely monitor weather conditions before allowing normal movement to resume.

Expect Valley temperatures to be cooler this week with occasional rainfall. However, weather experts warn the people to be cautious during heavy rains especially in flood-prone, mountainous areas.
