Conor McGregor Makes Weight Successfully Ahead of UFC 329 Main Event Against Max Holloway

Conor McGregor has officially made weight for his main event at UFC 329, and is gearing up for his long-awaited return to the Octagon against former featherweight champ Max Holloway. McGregor weighed in at 170.5 pounds and Holloway weighed 170 pounds to make the welterweight fight official. The successful weigh-in was a huge milestone for McGregor, who has not fought since suffering a serious leg injury in 2021. His recovery has been closely followed by fans and analysts and it is one of the most highly anticipated comebacks in recent UFC history.

A rematch long awaited over a decade in the making

The UFC 329 headliner is a rematch 13 years in the making. McGregor and Holloway first crossed paths in 2013 when both fighters were rising up the featherweight ranks. Holloway won that fight by unanimous decision, but has since gone on to become one of the most decorated fighters in UFC history, winning the featherweight belt and setting numerous records inside the Octagon. This is the second time the two have met but in a different weight class, adding another level of intrigue to this already historic bout.

“I’m very confident I can come back,” McGregor said.

McGregor said during fight week he was 100 per cent confident in his body and his preparation. “I’m back stronger, more mentally focused and healthier than ever before after years of rehab and training,” he said. He’s got the speed, he’s got the power and he’s got the fight IQ and all those things are going to make a difference in this fight,” he said. McGregor also promised a bang, saying he wants to make a statement in his first UFC appearance in almost five years.

Holloway seeks new challenge

Max Holloway is really happy about this fight and he is going to welterweight. Holloway is known for his high volume striking and durability, with incredible endurance, and feels he is more than up for the heavier weight class. He dismissed concerns that he’ll have to deal with McGregor’s power, insisting he’s been more focused on performance than the weight cut. The rematch allows Holloway a chance to avenge his loss and prove he can still be competitive outside of his division.
