Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra Leak Reveals Major Upgrades Expected Across the Entire Galaxy S27 Lineup
Samsung’s next flagship phone cycle is already generating buzz, even though the Galaxy S27 series is months away from its anticipated 2027 launch. Initial reports indicate Samsung is experimenting with significant changes in cameras, battery technology, storage and model positioning. The Galaxy S27 Ultra looks to be set to have the most sophisticated hardware, but the basic Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27 Plus could also get enhancements that could make the complete range more competitive.
Upgrades to the Galaxy S27 lineup
The latest updates apparently include new camera sensors and silicon-carbon battery testing on the Galaxy S27 series. Samsung is reportedly looking at a 50-megapixel Sony primary sensor for the Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27 Plus, which would be a big change from the company’s regular use of its own ISOCELL hardware. The parts are still said to be under test, so the final specs could be different when manufacturing begins.
New Camera Sensors Could Make Photography Better for All
Camera development looks to be one of the key areas of concentration. A recent leak has associated the Galaxy S27 series with internal codenames NM1 through NM4, hinting that Samsung could be producing four variants. The same leak also indicated possibly 50-megapixel main cameras with optical image stabilisation for normal variants. The high-end models may have a 50-megapixel Sony IMX855 ultrawide sensor and a 16-megapixel autofocus selfie camera.
Reports continue to point to a new 200-megapixel ISOCELL sensor for the Galaxy S27 Ultra. Some leaks have referred to it as the HP6, while others have mentioned a larger HPA-based sensor. Either approach might be about improved dynamic range, cleaner low-light photographs and more controlled highlights, rather than just higher megapixel counts.
Silicon-Carbon Batteries May Improve Endurance
Samsung is also said to be working on silicon-carbon batteries for some of the Galaxy S27 lineup. It can store more energy without needing a significantly bigger physical battery . This can be advantageous for small premium phones . One report predicts increases in the region of 10%, which might push an Ultra model up to around 5,500mAh.
But not all models are expected to get the patch. Early evidence shows the regular Galaxy S27 may be skipped, since Samsung has not yet decided on the battery capacities. The current Galaxy S26 series has 4,300mAh, 4,900mAh, and 5,000mAh batteries on the base, Plus, and Ultra models, which is a good reference point for the rumoured increases.
Galaxy S27 Ultra May Feature Faster Hardware
The Galaxy S27 Ultra is also expected to use a 2nm flagship processor, LPDDR6 RAM and perhaps UFS 5.0 storage. The modifications could boost application loading, on-device artificial intelligence processing, and power economy. UFS 5.0 is projected to provide substantially faster data speeds than UFS 4.0, although the expense of production may restrict it to a few high-end devices.
Early rumours also include a revamped camera area, better cooling and magnetic Qi2 charging compatibility. Samsung hasn’t verified any of these features publicly.
Galaxy S27 Pro could do better in range
Another big possibility is a small Galaxy S27 Pro. It’s said to have a 6.47-inch display, and some Ultra-like capabilities, without the S Pen. Offering a choice of four models would enable more people to choose the right one for them, balancing compact size, larger displays, superior cameras and productivity functions.
Samsung has not yet officially launched the Galaxy S27 series. It’s now expected to arrive January or February, 2027. Pricing, processors per area, and the final model names are still up in the air.
